Ugh, here we go again.
My opinion is AARP isn't worth a credit pull unless you can spend absolutely massive amounts on the card within 6 months, though HelpMe will burn me at the stake for thinking that.

He obviously agrees with that. He just argues on how difficult it is to spend massive amounts of money (I think)

No, he has said that miles are worthless for him and he doesn't bother going for them at all.

I agree, but I'm running out of cards on which to make $500+, and all my options (except for continually churning the AMEX Plat) are Chase cards. However, I think that those offers will be around longer that will this one. I figure that even if I only pull down btw 100-200 per month for 6 months, that's still btw 600-1,200, and is better than most of my other options.
Additionally, b/c I don't fly much, and when I do I fly coach, the value of miles typically max out at 1.5 or so for me.

No need to rehash the whole argument again.

Any thoughts about the recon?

How do you run out of cards?  They're all churnable!

You can sell UR points for 1.65-1.8.
CO/UA/IB/SP all give at least 50K points (more on the SP) for signing up.

Let's say you spend $3,000 per month for 6 months=$18,000

CO/UA/IB/SP all give at least 50K ($825 at 1.65cpm signup bonus) and $300-$600 of points for the spending depending on how you spend (airfare, hotels, taxi, car rentals, dining, office supplies, gas, wireless, telecom, 7% dividend, etc)

AARP gives you $900.

Even at $4K/month ($24,000) AARP still won't get you ahead.

And you would advise against trying to hit a home run by using square, or s/t of the sort?
I hear what you're saying, but I've never tried churning a Chase card (haven't gotten them all yet) and am concerned about it working. Is it as simple as entering a diff ff #?
And is it possible to churn the Sapphire card?

Who pays near 1.8?

You'll be banned before you get to 2nd base.
A different FFN works for CO/UA and I've churned Sapphire.

Maybe we can just agree to disagree. You can keep flying around the world in first class for free and I can keep buying new cars for free.

Dan (and HelpMe), may I suggest that at this point you move the conversation over to the proper thread.
I'm not sure why the OP of this conversation -  (reuvain) - posted in this thread in the first place.

Can I suggest a new forum rule?

There should be a "CC cashback vs. miles" thread, and if anyone posts these kinds of arguments anywhere but that thread, the posts get deleted.

How about a forum rule against stalking?

I'm all or one. I have nothing against anyone here, I am completely against minority opinions being repeated ad infinitum.

It's a minority opinion*, why keep bringing it up?

*) and I don't mean 40%, I mean it's practically one person against everyone else here.

I posted here to ask whether I should call up Chase recon again, in line with the title of the thread.
I happened to mention the card types, and that started the discussion.
