Then cancel it.
Or call again and try to shift part of the credit line.

I wouldn't necessarily cancel it if it turned it into a Freedom card. My old WAMU turned into Freedom and I never had to get a new credit pull for it. That is a free credit card that I use regularly to bank UR points now that I didn't need to get a pull for.

I got approved for my wife for the SP, they said they were going to lower the limit of my united card from $5000 to $1000 but they didn't as they probally wern't able to being that its a signature card and requires $5000 minimum.

Incorrect. You can't open certain cards with less than a 5k CL, but they can always be lowered at a later time.

I had this last time where they said they approved me and it ended up they couldnt as they couldnt lower the $5000 on the UA. But now i called again and it did go through and the limit is still 5000 , so im wondering

Are you agreeing or arguing, I can't tell.

Anyway here's one of my sources  ;)

You can have a $500 credit line on any chase card. The 5k requirement is only when opening the card.

When I spoke w/ them last night, she told me that the CL on existing cards (I think for the signature cards) couldn't be lower than 5k, so she lowered my SP and AARP cards to open a UA card.
Maybe it depends on the rep.

Called business recon for Ink Bold.... she actually first pulled up another app I did for another business card and when I sweet talked my way to approval, she then had to swap pull up the app for bold and approve (YAY!), however now she said she had to officially reject the other app bc she had pulled it up and officially put it under consideration. I'm debating with myself along these lines right now... I really really don't want A/A so I'm wondering if I should bother fighting for the other app (ink cash) at all. I'm unsure of the amount of DDF member who know have A/A pulled on them and I certainly hope it is only a very small fraction.

Just giving y'all an update. I managed to push through the second app by closing and moving my BA card's line over to business side. It was a very small line (only $1500) so they added $500 onto it for the Ink Cash. It's not great but I'll take it :)

I wasn't aware that they allocate credit between business and personal cards. Good to know!

IT DID NOT MATTER!!
This is how it went:
Called first about CO and she kept on saying I had too much new credit with Chase in the past 12 months (BA and IB) so she ultimately said if I close down BA she can replace it for CO which I did. Before I did that I brought up my SP application and she said they can't open so many accounts, and I said I'm only asking for the current CL to be split be she wouldn't budge.
Hung up, called again within a minute about SP and the guy right away offered to move some cl from the BA into SP so I did and he said the card is on the way!!

My only concern is that since the CO didn't show in the system by the 2nd phonecall and the guy moved from BA which was nonexistent by the time of the 2nd phonecall, will there be an issue here or will the credit come off the CO no problem?
For the record, I got 20K on the CO for closing the BA and double dipped for another 10K off of the (closed) BA into the SP.

just a whim- based on a few things  i read. it could be the mistake i made was posting about an upcoming trip i am planning on the forums. I (stupidly) mentioned in the details the exact dates and airlines, and that i got all the points from cc's. Could be our friendly chase EO personnel tracked me down!? Maybe this is why they shut me down!?

Lol, nope. Not what Chase cares about.  All they care about is if you're a credit risk.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Tried getting my wife approved for a Chase Sapphire Visa but they will not approve due to lack of credit history and the minimum credit line on the card is 5k. Is it worth arguing with recon dept.?

Depends if there is any basis for credit. How long is her credit history ? If she has no credit history then that would be very unlikely.

Also side question, do you call as your wife?

In addition to what aryeh1 said above, I think the trick is not to keep arguing but rather to keep on calling until you find an agent who is receptive to you (albeit with some smooth talking).
