After 2 huca and shmoozing with a nice rep about the current state of his eagles, he still wouldn't approve my wife for a united business card despite telling me "you're knocking it out of the park building credit like this😄", because "not enough credit history" and they want to see how she handles her personal cards first. Any advice (besides sm)?

HUCA again.
Anything new to say? Or just the same and hope for a better rep?

Try and come up with a creative reason why you need that additional card.

I'm not lacking in creativity but I can't seem to convince them to let my wife open a business card. This would be her first... They are claiming they need to see more history on her personal cards and won't let me shift credit or close a card to open it…

For me I got my first business card approved, b/c I was on a Chase biz checking account w/ a former employer. I told him I left that co to start my own thing and needed my own card for it. Even though I told him I revenue was $0, I explained it was a side project as I have a full time job. I also explained to him the nature of my startup (i.e. hobby) and that it would hopefully lead to some revenue in the coming months.

I'm sure you're story is different, but there are creative ways to get approved.

Yes it is. People have gone around it by playing HUCA or waiting 30 days after you reconsider. When you reconsider a application your 30 days cycle that the application stays in the system restarts (as per previous posters) so after 30 days from your 2 approved applications try your luck again!
Also try SM.

Thanks very much for the info. The rep told me about the new 30-day cycle but I'm concerned that if I wait the full 30 days they'll have to re-pull my credit report. Gonna try HUCA'ing and SM first and if all else fails, will then call back in 30 days. Thanks again.

If it's within the 30 days of the recon, I don't think they'd be pulling a new report. They look back at the data from the credit report that was pulled from the original application.

You have 30 days from the date on the letter you receive, which comes about a week after you apply. If you get approved for one card before the date on the letter than you can just wait out 30 days from that approval and still be before the 30 day expiration of the application.
I just did this for someone.

Chase offered to close accounts in order to open new ones.  What are the ramifications of this? Will closed accounts show up on my credit or will they have the same opening date? Does chase frown on this process?

Aside from getting approved for an account without any action on your part, this is what you want to happen. It will not affect you negatively.

Try shifting some CL before closing. don't ask the reconsideration rep to do it ??? just call CUS first then call back recon that your willing to take their offer and close the card.

I was just told by Chase Reconsideration that due to having too many cards open I wouldn't be getting approved for another card, even if I used some of my credit limit from another account.
I then went to apply online for the BA card and was instantly approved.

Does anyone know if I should expect some action on their part? Should I preemptively request to lower some of my credit limits to have the same overall line of credit?
