PS: If the reason you were declined on a 5/24 card is 5/24, and you are indeed 5/24, YOU WILL NOT GET APPROVED.

I believe Dan responded to this question before that for Chase cards there is no time limit and you can get the renewal bonus right away again.  It's for cards like SPG that I believe you need to wait a year before getting bonus again.

Is that correct?

Supposedly if you're applying for the same card too soon after you closed it the first time, you could get approved but really won't get the bonus points again.

A friend of mine applied for 2 southwest cards to get the 50k bonus X2, and eventually get the companion pass.
This was his first app with Chase.
He got approved instantly for the Premier for 6k CL, and got pending for the plus. He called up recon a few times, and they told him he can't have both because they are "the same card". Nothing to do with his credit.
Anyone ever had this happen?
Any suggestions?

Nice job! I joined over Chol Hamoed. It's crazy how much you can learn about an entirely new topic in just a few weeks. Schools should teach curriculums like this. :-p

He applied for the wrong cards - those 2 ARE the same, just one is a lower level card. To get the companion pass with new cards, you need to get 1 personal card and 1 business card.

Not true.  Just takes some HUCA and explanation. (HSA, etc).

I googled! I don't see how a "health savings account" would help an argument to get 2 SW cards! Also, I googled GIYF to find out that means. And ETC is a steakhouse in Teaneck, no? #sarcasticsmileyface

Ya, please advise on how to explain to the CSR about a HSA. How does that help?

Good to have HSA spend on its own dedicated card.
Same goes for a card for use on expenses for specific clients, etc.

If I just called Chase and got 1 out of 3 applications that I did yesterday approved, how long should I wait before I call again?

HUCA does not have a waiting period between the HU and the CA.

Just wondering if they would say, "hey you just called 5 minutes ago..."

Even if they do, they can still approve if you are nice and deserving. If you get same rep, say on last phone call forgot something and realized after phone call...

Ok, so question. Yesterday I applied for the SW card to complete my companion pass points, SP and UE. They were all pending. Today I got approved for the SP, but for the SW card 2 reps that I spoke to said that it's in some sort of process that they need to let run its course and can't expedite. The 2nd rep said he didn't want to approve my UE since what I really want is the SW and the UE would make 2 approved applications which would close out the SW application because of the 30 day rule. He suggested to wait and see what happens with the SW and then take it from there.

Any advice?

On the one hand, a poster said he got three approvals.  On the other hand, just to be on the safe side, maybe you should wait,  since the SW is your top choice.  But I would DROPR for SW 'can't expedite'.  You definitely should HUCA.
