I canceled monday and rebooked for sunday, although it showed $298 they said they were showing $309 and cannot honor it.

Has anyone ever had any success with a choicehotels BRG free night? They don't have a number to call, you must submit a claim with a form, and it seems the price is always "fixed" when they get around to checking it out. They also won't accept screenshots, IME.

BTW, the guy asked me for the second guest's name before checking the lower rate, to prevent 2 BRG price matches close by, and said we would both have to produce govt-issued ID upon check-in. Has anyone had any experience with this? I don't think it's in their T&C, is it even legal?

I had that when I filed another claim. I told them it was someone else maybe a cousin with the same name. When I got to the hotel in Tel Aviv they did not ask about other person in room.

Since, according to IHG's T&C the competing website must charge you in the local hotel currency, and I've gotten screwed on that technicality in Toronto, can anyone who has had success with a foreign BRG claim share A. which websites they've used, and B. in which currency (CAD, NIS, etc.)? Thanks

I did it with my nephew we both got it and didn't pay anything. At first I booked another date which they approved.

why not? they just the need their site, and the competeting site to be the same currency.

The quotes shown on the websites in other currencies are for the consumer to evaluate how much a certain stay will cost in a currency that the consumer understands and is used to. Basically, so you don't have to google the exchange rate. However, IHG hotels always charge your cc in the local hotel currency and to qualify for the BRG price match, the competing website must charge you in the same currency.
Example: hoteltravel.com only charges you in USD or EUR, so only a stay in the US or Europe would qualify. A Canadian, British or Israeli IHG stay would be charged in CAD, GBP, or NIS, and you need a competing website that charges in those currencies.

FYI, just BRG'd the Sheraton in Casablanca.
The matching site was olotels
At first, SPG couldn't find any rates so they denied it. So I sent them a link to the actual rates, and they approved it.

2k points and a cheaper price. Not bad for a few minutes of work.
