About to sign up for 5 cards
« on: June 27, 2011, 12:37:26 PM »
I plan on signing up for the following 5 cards soon (already did amex plat (100k) – and aa plat (75k) earlier this year - 4 months ago)

Amex:
1) Matching to 75K Premier Gold
2) Matching to 75K Business Gold

Chase:
3) Matching to 50K Continental
4) Matching to 50K United
5) Hyatt card

I assume I should do these in 2 sets with the 3 browser method? (1st for amex and then chase)
Correct?

Am I making a mistake trying to sign up for 5 cards at once?

Anything else I need to know?

Sounds like a plan, good luck.

Just wondering, why aren't you signing up for the 50k Sapphire Preferred instead of the Hyatt/UA card?

When signing up for the business gold amex, should I put the name of the business as the name of the person who gets the phone and internet bill where I live? The bills aren't in my name, they are in my girlfriends.

You already asked that question, no need to ask it again. If someone knows the answer they'll post it.

People have been successful using a random business name, others have been asked to verify. I'm yet to hear of someone using their GF's name, so IDK.

My experience is that Amex does 2 pulls if you do biz and personal.

I dont think chase is matching to 50k on the united or continental cards anymore. You will probably only get 30k.

I think that varies by state, i.e. which bureaus Amex uses in your state for personal and biz. The three browser method is reported to work (for one pull) most of the time, but YMMV.

3K spend?

Better card though, if he can hit the spend I'd say it's worth it.

Has anyone in NJ done a personal and biz Amex application in 2 browsers and gotten only one pull?

+1 on the united matching I just got it. Don't know about continental, although I did get an email recently with a 50k offer.

Guys thanks for the valuable insights.

@AsherO - 'Yaakov s' is right - I am intimidated by the $3k spend. I know there are ways to hock around with gift cards etc. but I don't have the patience to read the forums, understand it, and then do it.

So the consensus is that CO is out? Okay. Thanks.

I live in NY anyone have experience with the Business & Consumer Amex pulls?

My modified plan:
Amex: [immediately]
1) Matching to 75K Premier Gold
2) Matching to 75K Business Gold

Chase: [might put this on hold for a bit as I research the best options]
3) Matching to 50K Continental
3) Matching to 50K United
4) Hyatt card
5) unknown other chase card

Why you doing biz gold and not plat? or do both....do 3 from amex and 2 from chase.

Sorry, I edited my original post for the reply. It said: "I plan on signing up for the following 5 cards soon (already did amex plat (100k) – and aa plat (75k) earlier this year - 4 months ago)"

I didn't cancel my amex plat. b/c when I called to cancel the rep gave me a mussar shmooze about how I already cashed in on a few hundred thousand points (I did a bunch of referrals) and that they like me as a customer....yada...yada. He also offered me another 25k to not cancel.  ;D  I took the bait.

So no churning for now.

Also, since I don't have any other amex cards as of now I assume that if I cancel I forfeit any warranty benefits from the purchases with my platinum.

I am hoping that once I have the gold I can cancel plat and still have the rights to a warranty claim from Platinum days.
