Sorry, I edited my original post for the reply. It said: "I plan on signing up for the following 5 cards soon (already did amex plat (100k) – and aa plat (75k) earlier this year - 4 months ago)"

I didn't cancel my amex plat. b/c when I called to cancel the rep gave me a mussar shmooze about how I already cashed in on a few hundred thousand points (I did a bunch of referrals) and that they like me as a customer....yada...yada. He also offered me another 25k to not cancel.  ;D  I took the bait.

So no churning for now.

Also, since I don't have any other amex cards as of now I assume that if I cancel I forfeit any warranty benefits from the purchases with my platinum.

I am hoping that once I have the gold I can cancel plat and still have the rights to a warranty claim from Platinum days.
downgrade plat to zync

@smokey what does downgrade to zync do? keep my amex acct. for warranties etc.? will that work?

@gozalim  It sounds like CO is not upgrading to 50k anymore. For 30k I dunno.

It's a Citi AA Platinum Visa - 75k (plus I had expired miles which I brought back to life through the AA i-can't-remember-the-name challenge)  :D

i say wait on the continental. Chase will offer a monster of at least 50000 or more IMHO because once they fully merge with United chase will be left holding a bag full of worthless co miles so i think they will try their darndest to givem away

it keeps the same account number, might help keep the purchase protection. (might also help keep priority pass open tell us how that goes) for 1/20th of the price ($25/year instead of 450)

I would not recommend 4 chase cards at a shot.

Chase: [might put this on hold for a bit as I research the best options]
3) Matching to 50K Continental
3) Matching to 50K United
4) Hyatt card
5) unknown other chase card

Dan says there is a Chase Southwest coming out any day. That should be a good third option.

Yes, a great public offer will come out very soon.

Hmmm, hopefully my double app won't kill my chances for that one. Luckily I have a few Chase cards to close to get 'em pushed through.
