To me, and I'm certainly a biased MLB-first guy, there's something special about win-or-go-home baseball games. It's not only the history of the series being split, but it's the mysterious nature of the game that you have absolutely no idea how the game will unfold, and who will be the hero and goat. Maybe Andrew Miller will crash and burn, but Raj Davis will bail him out. In LDS Game 5s, maybe you would be on Bautista coming through, but who could know that Daniel Murphy (pre-divine status) would almost single-handedly win the game. In the NBA, you know who the big guys are going to be; in the NHL, you have a good guess (start with the goalies), but MLB is so completely unpredictable that it makes those games completely crazy (IMO).
