actually I think it is much easier for boys to be considered "good boys" then girls and its even easier for boys to rehab their image than girls. boys can get away with more than girls can and still be considered good. or at least that is how it was when I was younger
I agree that it's easier for boys to fix their image.
And with certain things they do get away with more. Within certain groups though like the Yeshivish community for instance I still think girls have more wiggle room than boys.

It used to be that way, not so anymore.
You should see the list of rules that the camp my niece is going to has, if you call that wiggle room, I dont want to see what you'd call restrictive.

I always heard that part of the shidduch "crisis" was that more boys went OTD, leaving too many girls in the system.

The most convincing explanation I heard is the age gap + population growth.
