I just edited my lasy post

If you sign up for that plat card and then downgrade to the green card, the answer is yes! the card will work for purchases and for anything else including lounge access. I confirmed that this works

I've never done it, but people have told me that it works with a cancelled card.

If anyone here has accessed a club on a cancelled AMEX Plat let us know about it!

does any one know how bad it will look if i cancel my amex platinum i have one and my year is about up and i dont want to pay 450 i got a promo for the first year being free dan maybe you know how bad it is? or any one for that matter

Closing a credit card isn't a big deal unless it's your oldest card or has a high percentage of your total available credit.

Amex stopped the free companion tickets, with the platinum card. i juts spoke with them today.
