Newbie want to go to Israel
« on: October 29, 2017, 10:27:34 AM »
I am looking to build enough miles to go with some one my family to Israel.  I need to be spending enough money in the coming weeks to qualify for a number of offers for miles bonuses.  I've already done Amex (have about 135k points), SPG (have 80k points), and Sapphire (55k).  I have about 100k in Delta miles amd 75k Citi TY points as well. Besides for SPG they were all in my name so I can do something in my wife's as well.  She does not get applroved for Chase though, too many cards in past 2 years.  I want to build my remaining points wisely.  I do not know much about using point for travel though so don't know what other cards make the most sense.  Particularly since the points will be spread over so many cards, not sure what programs allow you to convert points, which airlines that fly to Israel offer best value, etc.  I am also terrible at reading thru long posts and threads and coming out with a practical plan.   Can someone help?

TY,

Ben

You have enough already. Sell the points and book revenue tickets.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Thanks everyone.  I don't want to sell.  I understand that it is not legal, and that many poskim recommend against it.  Also, I am not looking to book yet.  I am looking to accumulate as many points/miles as I can and then see.  Not even sure how many of my children I would take with me.  Meanwhile I am looking to accumulate the best points for my purpose.

a shame you can't do Chase since CSR would probably be best for you.

It's 100% legal, it's just against the terms and conditions of the airlines/banks.

Shapsam: Sorry, my reference was misleading. I did not mean criminally illegal.  I meant that its a violation of legally binding agreements.

Back to my original post/question: Does anyone have suggestions as to which are the best credit cards to apply for to accumulate miles/points? (meaning which will be my best miles/points to use to book tickets)

My suggestion for your situation is to get a cash back credit card (capital one Sparks is a great option) get a check after you finish spending and book a trip

Isnt it easier to accumulate points from signup bonuses?

Definitely is but it seams like he can't sell points, so I guess he's stuck with cash back (and maybe chase cards linked to someone's  csr - assuming that's ok with his lor)
