Of course, not surprising. Utter greed IMHO.

Probably a small business owner paying high rent, salaries, utilities, insurance etc and charging a $1 to offset his costs.

Greed would be charging $5

Why wouldn't you be able to? They're not a court or legal authorities.
I have a question. You are ready to shut down someones parnasa for $1?! I hope never to do business with you as you cant seem to forgive someone over $1!

Number 2 did you find out the rules? Maybe they are allowed? I dont know but one thing I do know. You dont report this over $1.

1. It's not $1. It's $1 per package to countless customers who might not be aware they are being ripped off.

2. If there's no rule violation, there's nothing to be concerned about if UPS is informed.

Geneiva is Chayav for a Prutah, so not sure why the amount they are charging should be relevant. Either they are allowed to charge it, or they are not.

FYI: I don't have any connections with any of these stores.

I disagree with your first point because that is not your way of like. I promise you don't care about ploni getting ripped off, you care about your own $1. If your really cared you can do one of 2 things.
1. Go over to the owner. 2. Hang up a sign that drop off's should be free.

With point number 2. What will happen if they are allowed and since you called them t report something wrong it will hurt their relation with UPS. Just maybe?

My point is that you can't jump when it comes to someone else's parnasa.

Lets take out one more point, if you are wrong and they DO get shut down, I am not mekane your gehenim.

So your telling me that each time you see someone in shul using the milk for things other than coffee (many shuls have signs about this). You make a stink to save this guy from an avaira? Dont believe you.

Don't worry, you won't kill their relationship with UPS by reporting, they'll make a excuse that it was a packaging fee, tape fee etc

And on 2 for a straight drop off , definitely cannot charge

https://www.ups.com/us/en/help-center/sri/gen11.page

(and their contracts specify the same)

-these places are all under the category of authorized shipping outlets

The shipping center in CH (Albany, Empire & Lefferts) does not charge for ups drop offs, and will even tape up boxes and help you prepare them for ups with no charge. They are Jewish too.

Neither them, nor the other location mentioned that does charge are official ups stores or acces points and they likely do not have contracts with ups.

The store that does charge will charge $1 per box no matter how many boxes you have, and no matter if they need to tape it up or do any prep work.

Both store's respective attitudes and customer service match the $1 charge policy.

I vote with my wallet. You can too.

If they are showing on ups.com which they are, they clearly are a authorized shipping outlet

On the slim possibility that you are not trolling.... go to ups.com , locations, type in 478 Albany Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11203 (the store you mentioned) and bravo, access point, and authorized shipping outlet

**No personal experience at that location

I dont live in crown heights and know nothing about these stores. It's not my or anyone's job to be concerned with someone's parnasa if that parnasa is gotten by taking advantage of unknowing customers.

They most certainly are on UPS.com. See attached screenshot.

I stand corrected. When I searched by zip with the link above they didn't show up.

Either way, use the shipping center. They're friendly and don't do bogus charges.
