I lived in San Francisco for three year.
As Mark Twain said, and I'm probably paraphrasing, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."

And, of course now that I'm Googling it, it appears that the quote may be wrongly attributed to Twain.  Still, when the fog rolls through the Richmond, it can get mighty cold....

I also didn't find much to do at Fisherman's wharf but lots of restaraunts. Pier 39 was more interesting to me because they had performers.

FTFY.

IIRC there were lots of performers (on a nice day) by the wharf as well, in addition to there being a ben n jerrys (can get parve?) and a 7-11 a little further for slurpees. also lots of porpoises laying around that kids liked, some cute little jewelry and trinket stores for souveniers and there was a small aquarium we found coupons for that my kids (6 & 8 ) enjoyed. I must repeat, depending on the day try to make sure you go before 5pm to Sabra as they can get crazy, maybe call them and order in advance, and also make sure they dont close on you when u come (call before you fly to make sure they will indeed have an open kitchen with menu til 9).

Should I just skip Fisherman's wharf? Schedule something else in that time slot?
Take some down time in the hotel? (Shame it doesn't have a pool)

Don't eat DE.

Don't hold by that either.

Have Lombard st penciled on the way to Marin. Is there something to do besides driving down it?

When would I fit in Berkeley?

A few years ago, we went to a great trampoline facility at the foot of the Golden gate Bridge, I believe Fort point. I don't recall the exact name.

Lombard Street is just the drive down. I think it might be interesting, from the bottom, to park and gaze back uphill, but that would not be essential, nor would it take more than a few minutes.

Will you be in town at the time the Giants are playing at AT&T Park? It's a very nice place to see game, looking out over the bay.

Tilden Park in Berkeley can be fun for kids.
+1 to Tilden.
Although the carousel and steam train are probably only open on weekends this time of year. (Unless it's when the schools have a spring break)
The little farm will be open, but they put the animals away earlyish in the afternoon.
Right outside Tilden there are a couple of great overlooks that overlook the bay/sf, a great sunset location.

Twin peak is a beautiful place for sunset. You can see the entire city from there.

Don't skip fishermans wharf. It's a cool place to walk around. Lombard street has an option to walk down too. There are actually streets in the area that (at least feel) steeper. Deffinetly fun driving up and down those streets..

Thoughts/critiques for a trip with Rafi? Too aggressive for 4.5 year old? Anything I'm missing?
Rocket boat and Alcatraz night tours aren't running when we will be there.

4:25pm: ORD-SFO 747 upstairs.
7pm: Arrive SFO, rent car, pickup sandwiches from Sabra Grill, go to Fairmont
----
7:45am: Take streetcar+cable car to Pier 33 for 8:45am boat to Alcatraz
11:45am: Take streetcar or walk to Exploritorium
2:30pm: Take streetcar to Fisherman's Wharf (Anything specific worth doing?)
4:30pm:  Take cable car to Sabra Grill
6pm: Walk to Fairmont, drive via Lombard St for curves and then Battery Spencer (and/or?) Sausalito for views of sunset over bridge
8pm: Drive to Fairmont after sunset.
----
7am: Drive to SFO for 8:40am departure SFO-ORD 747 upstairs.

The audio tour at Alcatraz adds a lot. At least for you it will. I think it's an extra $5.

Lombard Street- we took cable car to it and walked down it and then took pictures by it. Ubered back to car and drove down it. Not too bad driving down - if you go at night, you don't see anything. Also extremely hilly driving back.
