Currently at the palace.  Beautiful and comfortable.  But totally lacking good service at the front desk.  The rest of the staff is nice.  Front desk is below most Hampton inn and suites

I don't think there is a kosher Ralphs. Best option for kosher groceries is Oakland Kosher. Not sure if there's anything downtown SF.

I have a conference in San Jose that ends too late on Friday to make it home for Shabbat- would you stay in San Francisco or San Jose for Shabbat solo?

Friend works at jetblue, got us some standby tix to SF last night. We couldn't book anything until we had confirmed seats. Alcatraz was fully booked for the two days we are here. However....

There exists a standby option for Alcatraz. Line opens 730 and the tickets are for the first boat (8 45 today). We got here 715 and were the last online and still got tickets. In the summer I'd presume it's a bit more hectic. A simple Google search should get you more info for the time of year you are going.

Sat in the Cafe having coffee and our breakfast that we brought until boarding. A great option for those who don't plan far in advance.

Best place (any place?) to buy kosher wine, ideally from Palo Alto northward, into Marin (not SJC or OAK)?  Do Mollie Stones and Safeway have any selection, or just Manischewitz?

Also, are there any kosher wineries to visit in Napa or Sonoma?

Whole foods

I ran into this during my trip to Napa. We spent the whole day surrounded by the smell of fermenting wine and then had nothing Kosher to drink. Stopped at about 20 stores. Most had manishevitz and the cheapest herzog bottle. Finally found a good bottle (I think Golan) for about $30 at a whole foods.

Covenant is in the area (berkley) but we could not setup a tour by the time we booked. Just went to a non kosher tour.

Bevmo might have a few varieties, as well as Trader Joe's (I know the ones in Berkeley do).
