Just parked for $10 all day parking on Sunday- cheapest we found close to pier 39- about 4 block away near pier 35- the pier 39 parking lot was $8/ hr- although they have some validation with restaurants (no kosher ones there ..)

Oakland Kosher I believe is still around, only about a 10-15 min drive from Berkeley. It's a grocery store that has a lunch/dinner menu with some seating. Fleishig rest. Average priced, decent food. Mind you it's been 2-1/2 years since I've been in Berkeley, but I believe it's still open.

Yes, oakland kosher is still around. (they had a fire but they rebuilt)

Disclaimer: I haven't been there in about 10 months so my info might be outdated...
For some reason I was under the impression that they no longer have the seating/restaurant. They do have deli / takeout though. (even if they do still have  the seating, I wouldn't really call it a restaurant, more like deli / takeout with seating)

-in case anybody get's the wrong idea: I'm not discouraging anybody from going there, I like the place and the food and the owner is really nice. I'm just explaining why I didn't mention it answering a question about restaurants near Berkeley...

That being said if you're looking for flaishigs near Berkeley, Oakland Kosher is the definitely the closest place.

I believe both places are roughly the same distance from Berkeley.

Is Amba Cholov Yisroel?

I don't know about Amba specifically, (whYME maybe?) but in general be careful with milchig places in No. Cal as they are notorious for being non-cholov yisroel.

There is also Grand Bakery (not a restaurant just a bakery) right around the corner form Oakland Kosher. I believe they are kosher as well but not cholov yisroel. (Again my info is slightly dated.)

Just don't go to Sabra's in S.F. prob the worst fleishig restaurant I have ever been to in my life. (and I've been there prob three times  :P)

Yes. (unless something changed in the last few months)

Correct.
their dairy stuff is not cholov yisroel. (they do have parve things as well)

but in general be careful with milchig places in No. Cal as they are notorious for being non-cholov yisroel.
I'm not sure I agree with that.
Other than Grand Bakery what other kosher non-cholov-yisroel places are there in norCal? Just izzy's bagels sometimes. (it seems every time I've gone there they seem to have a different situation with what's Cholov Yisroel)
It's always a good idea to be careful when visiting a new place & double check that the info you have is correct & up to date...

Just don't go to Sabra's in S.F. prob the worst fleishig restaurant I have ever been to in my life. (and I've been there prob three times  :P)
Agreed.
(well kinda, the food's not terrible, the attitude is...)

I have a 8 hour layover in SFO.  I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to do?  What is easiest way to get around without a car and what can I do in 6 hours assuming I need 2 hours to get back and checked in.  Thank you in advance.

No suggestions in SFO? There's got to be something better than hanging out at airport?
