It looks like this may a different place but there was a Tel Aviv Kosher (with a supermarket) when I lived there under Rabbi Welton's hashgacha (Chabad rabbi). I had THE BEST DELI SANDWHICH OF MY LIFE there. Literally. Everything they made there was incredible. If it's indeed closed it is a sad day for deli & oily israeli food fanatics.

I remember NY Deli in SF Embarcadaro....now that was good deli! I felt bad for the 2 chabad brothers who ran the place because I was pretty much the only customer the 2 days I was there!

Like so many other places in sf unfortunately, that had to close so soon.

My father grew up in SF and remembers Tel Aviv for the longest time...

I was really good friendss with the 2 brothers. I bought (one of) their first sandwiches! Really nice guys, I'm sure they've opened a more succesful restaurant elsewhere!

I hope so!! My friend and I lived off of them for 2 days- got a variety of sandwiches and soups.  Went to Sabra's once for a dinner.
Visited SF again last month and ate at Sabra's 2x! Way overpriced, food was decent but ambiance was really odd. First dinner, I took my non-frum relatives there, I am not sure they were too impressed.  They mentioned they had horrible YELP ratings.  Second dinner, 2 diff families walked in (about 8-10 people each) started thinking it was a treif chinese restaurant- the chabad waiter (one of the shluchim's sons) told me it happens all the time. Oh well...

I think hyatt fishermans wharf is best value but you might prefer being in center of town

Why would I prefer center. Is there more stuff to do there, closer to kosher food?

I thought I might spend most of the day by Fisherman's Wharf, but I'm definitely up for suggestions

If you don't care where you sleep then go out of town for cheaper hotels. Even by SFO I think there's a new aloft. Its a nice area right by the water

I don't want to be too out of it, I'm only gonna be there for 36 hours.

I was thinking Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf Hotel it's $139 prepaid. I guess I can try for a priceline

The "Orthodox Rabbinical Council of San Francisco (K-ORC)" is generally not accepted?

It is R' Traub.  He was the Rav of Adath Israel for many years and musmach of Torah Vdaas.  I have been told it is generally not accepted.
