Activities: Toledo - a day trip from Madrid to see 2 old Shuls. Can hire a tour guide, Rabbi Hanoka (info@jewishtoledotour.com), which is not cheap, or can take a train on your own. 1 of the Shuls (El Transito) is closed on Mondays. @Yehuda went on a day when that Shul was closed, and the other Shul was really just an empty room and seemed like a Christian organization now runs the center. Without a tour guide, it was hard to get anything Jewish out of our trip (other than an antique store that had some Judaica). But, people who have taken the tour (discussed in the thread) have said it was great! Recommended to go with a tour or not go at all (and ensure to go on a day when both are open!). Report in the thread that the sometimes-closed Shul has audio headsets for use, so that would help. If going alone, you can research the Jewish places at the link HERE

At least 2 days I love the city also just FYI Spain is known for it's gorgeous beaches if you can spare a night chill in Marbella,
Besides for the beaches in BCN, what activities besides the Park Guell, Las Ramblas and Jewish tour do you recommend? I might be able to spend Tue night through Thu morning and spend less time in SVQ but I don't think I can fit in Marbella. Also, while I like nice beaches, I see them regularly at home, and my wife and I aren't beach lounging people.

Didn't really do the beaches in BCN but the city is great just think of a dated L.A. There's a whole port at the end of La Ramblas. I don't know I just loved walking around there is also a very cool gondola that goes from atop the mountain over the water

So you think it's worth it to spend an extra night and morning there and just an afternoon/night in SVQ?

The Palace was very nice. Retiro Park was great. I think there is what to do in MAD alone and I didn't even get to a "unique" bullfight/show.
i was weighing the options. i never said theres nothing to do, but rather i cant say there are things that are don't miss, as opposed to toledo .besides for a bullfight if you like gore, (and yes its really gory i can upload the video if anyone wants) and possibly flamenco which you can get in other cities as well

Would like to see it if you put it up. How much did you pay for tickets?

42.3 euros in the summer of '09. summer is when the amateurs fight and that probably was the case for the extra gore. it was also for a 'sombre' (shade) seat

Train or fly between MAD & BCN? The price is comprable. Anyone have experience?

Thanks. I guess it's doable MAD-BCN. BCN-SVQ is really long. Why do you think it's preferable? Train stations are in the city center?

I don't think SVQs is, but you'll have to go there for the car rentals most likely.

Huh? MAD-BCN by train is 2:45. BCN-SVQ by train is 5:30 minutes going through MAD. I don't think I understand what you meant.

Was talking about the SVQ train station not being "in town". Sorry I was answering the second part of your question.

Got it. It still looks closer than the airport, but that's not really relevant to my needs.

It is, that's why we went from there (and I think cheaper, too).

That's the Santa Justa station, right? Does the name ring a bell?

1. Take the Aeroplane bus to the city, then taxi or train to LA Rambla.

And to Barcelona there are 1-2 trains every hr from the Central Station.
