Activities: Toledo - a day trip from Madrid to see 2 old Shuls. Can hire a tour guide, Rabbi Hanoka (info@jewishtoledotour.com), which is not cheap, or can take a train on your own. 1 of the Shuls (El Transito) is closed on Mondays. @Yehuda went on a day when that Shul was closed, and the other Shul was really just an empty room and seemed like a Christian organization now runs the center. Without a tour guide, it was hard to get anything Jewish out of our trip (other than an antique store that had some Judaica). But, people who have taken the tour (discussed in the thread) have said it was great! Recommended to go with a tour or not go at all (and ensure to go on a day when both are open!). Report in the thread that the sometimes-closed Shul has audio headsets for use, so that would help. If going alone, you can research the Jewish places at the link HERE

« on: February 28, 2009, 09:40:40 PM »
I was wondering if anybody knows about kosher food there couldn't find anything online that looked kosher?
Also any ideas of things to do there (jewish/kosher)? Anybody been to the Sagrada Familia (wasn't used yet as a church and probally won't, not expected to be finished for about another 40 years)? Van Gogh Museum worth anything or just another boring must see?
Is it worth renting a car there (not moneywise) or won't get around with the Spanish Language and traffic signs?

Maybe he wants to ad a "pin" to his travel map. There is something about just going to far places.

your best bet is to catch a flight from england to gibraltar, or you can take a flight to malaga spain and drive approx. 1hour and 30 minutes to gibraltar.
heard it was georgeous and i would love to go.

Alright but what if I have no choice? (Rather have bad food then starve ;) unless you meant, not kosher)

I am thinking of taking a trip in July to London and Paris. I have the option of stopping off for 24 hours in Madrid on the way home. Is there anything interesting to do there and does anyone recommend this stopover to get a taste of Spain? Any Kosher restaurants there these days? Any info would be appreciated.
