Activities: Toledo - a day trip from Madrid to see 2 old Shuls. Can hire a tour guide, Rabbi Hanoka (info@jewishtoledotour.com), which is not cheap, or can take a train on your own. 1 of the Shuls (El Transito) is closed on Mondays. @Yehuda went on a day when that Shul was closed, and the other Shul was really just an empty room and seemed like a Christian organization now runs the center. Without a tour guide, it was hard to get anything Jewish out of our trip (other than an antique store that had some Judaica). But, people who have taken the tour (discussed in the thread) have said it was great! Recommended to go with a tour or not go at all (and ensure to go on a day when both are open!). Report in the thread that the sometimes-closed Shul has audio headsets for use, so that would help. If going alone, you can research the Jewish places at the link HERE

I don't know about people for meals, buy if you find anything I'm interested. We're going in July.

In terms of hotels, the Eliott is the nicest option and very close to shuls. That's where we plan on staying.
FTFY ;)

I'll be in Barcelona in March for the WGSMA, WMC Show. I will be traveling with someone that has Yortzeit and needs to have a Minyan 3x a day, anyone know if Chabad or anywhere else has a guaranteed Minyan 3x a day?

I think there's only Chabad and Communidad Israelita de Barcelona, and the latter definitely isn't reliable for a Minyan.

Oops sorry. I guess it may not be an option though for one staying over Shabbos.

I know, but I can't recognize them the way locals can. Any tips?
Beware of anyone trying to sell you these little sprigs of leaves.

whats the weather like in southern spain in january? is it rainy or overcast?
It varies. In my experience, it was relatively mild (as compared to NYC). Just come prepared with layers.

Does anyone know of someone that would host my wife and I in GIB for shabbos in January. If not for sleep then just meals. Additionally, which hotels are near the Jewish community?
We stayed in the Eliot which worked out perfectly. We got a good deal by booking directly through their website, wifi included.
Also, if you don't find anyone to host you, you can buy food for Shabbos there. Chances are you will get invited by someone in shul or just walking down the street. We were stopped by more than 1 person on Friday making sure we had a place for Shabbos!

There are women in some areas that come up to you and try to give you sprigs of leaves. They won't leave you alone until you give them money and may have their friends nearby waiting until you're distracted. It's best just to ignore.

Barcelona is the capital of pickpocketing in the world , I had other experiences with pickpocketers, but BH, I was prepared, I kept all my belongings in Pickpocket proof pockets and bags fun Pacsafe.com, and managed to scare them off.

Here are some good tips

But is it safe.
We used public transportation in all the major cities. Just be vigilant and you should be fine.

I guess they're kind of like the people in Venice that put roses in your hands and make you pay.

Is it really that bad? They say Rome is dangerous in terms of pickpocketers but we didn't have any issues.

I usually just carry my wallet in my front pocket and it's pretty tight, so I'm not worried about it getting stolen. Even I have trouble getting it out some times. Do you think it would be a problem?

I know people who were robbed in Rome, I even warned someone before he went to be vigilant, but he was robbed anyways. I Guess being pickpocketed in Rome is YMMV   but definitely be vigilant.

Thanks. Do you think it would be easy for someone to pickpocket me based on where my wallet is kept? My hand is always kind of resting on it.

Would probably be difficult to pickpocket in that case,   but what's with your phone and camera, are you just traveling with your wallet?
