Shabbos Tips: Stay at Hotel Condado it is about a 3 minute walk from the shul (local community), bear in mind there is no eruv, so you will need to either leave the room open or make some arrangement with the hotel, they do not offer keys (or have that option at all)

Activities: Toledo - a day trip from Madrid to see 2 old Shuls. Can hire a tour guide, Rabbi Hanoka (info@jewishtoledotour.com), which is not cheap, or can take a train on your own. 1 of the Shuls (El Transito) is closed on Mondays. @Yehuda went on a day when that Shul was closed, and the other Shul was really just an empty room and seemed like a Christian organization now runs the center. Without a tour guide, it was hard to get anything Jewish out of our trip (other than an antique store that had some Judaica). But, people who have taken the tour (discussed in the thread) have said it was great! Recommended to go with a tour or not go at all (and ensure to go on a day when both are open!). Report in the thread that the sometimes-closed Shul has audio headsets for use, so that would help. If going alone, you can research the Jewish places at the link HERE

Anyone have any ideas for a quick 6.5 hour stop over in Madrid?
The Prado museum is amazing if you appreciate art. It’s about a half hour walk from the Palace to the Prado through the heart of the City, passing famous square where auto de fe were held.

I think there are kosher options in Malaga although haven't been. There is Kash Kash in Torremolinos which is all year round and not too far away. Was there a few years back.

Have a 11 hour layover in Madrid this summer.
What would You recommend DW and I see (stopover on the way to JTR for a honeymoon)
Can you rank  them please (palace, Prado etc) how much is possible within our timeframe? Don't know the layout of the land/distances between each location.
TIA

Palace is decent if you enjoy that.

Nothing else worth seeing in Madrid, I would head to Toledo which is beautiful.

I enjoyed the palace (didn't care much for the armory building next door), and Retiro Park. I don't recommend going to Toledo without a guide. Seem my TR in the wiki.

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

Loved Retiro Park as well. The boats were really relaxing and fun. Something you can do anywhere I suppose though.

Anyone know what the current kosher options are in Barcelona (besides Maccabi)? Is Shaq Shuq still open and the felafel place?

I'm there overnight next Wednesday.

Thank you.

Recommendations for a 2-3 day trip with a toddler? Planning to do NYC-BCN-LON-NYC and spend roughly Monday PM-Thurs early AM in BCN, and then Thursday PM-Tuesday AM in London.

Can do BCN in 1-2 days, then maybe hop over to MAD for a day. I liked Madrid better, but BCN has the Kosher food, which is huge.
