Note: Turkish became extremely weird with their checked luggage policy.
It varies from very generous to sub spirit/ryanair*

Or mainly don't include bags.
Some of them, when you want to include a bag, you can't: you must pay per kg checked luggage.
Happened to a family member of mine, so 20 kg was around $350.

Did you notice the different weight allowance on my screenshot?

Not sure if discussed already, if it wasn't, here goes, hopefully it will not be posted on the main site:
One can register his or her Miles & Smiles account as being a student. It gives cheaper fares and extra luggage.

Whenever I try searching Star Alliance awards on the Turkish website, I get a pop-up that says “Error-BOS-52009”. Anyone know how to fix this?

I am hoping to finally (partially) knock off something that has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember, and actually visit Istanbul on my way back from EY.

I originally booked a 7am flight from TLV, thinking I would take it after davening, land in IST around 9:20am and spend about 8 hours there. (would have also given me the opportunity to experience TK's A350). But then I decided that it wouldn't allow for a decent night rest before the flight, so I changed my flight to the night before, landing in IST at around midnight, hoping to get a decent nap in the TK or IGA lounge, shower and then go to the city, daven Shachris and spend the day.

When I changed my flight, the TK phone agent said this was no longer a connection, but rather a stopover (but when issuing the ticket there was no additional charge). My question is whether I will be indeed allowed to access the airside lounge as planned, or am I better off taking an even earlier flight and taking an AirBnB for the night is the Şişli area?

(another consideration when choosing the ex-TLV flight was/is airport congestion, which now has an added twist due to Sleepy Joe's visit).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

if someone knows offhand, I booked phl  to ord for 2 passenger both non account holder, the rep sent me to automated system to complete payment and enter turkish  pin code but was told that even though flight is ticketed   that i still need to go down to the Turkish offices, or Turkish counter  and present the credit card used  to pay the taxes. This is a domestic flight that I could check in online why would i need to do that, did miles and smiles  change the rules recently?

When I checked in at TLV for my TK flight booked with TK miles I was asked to show the CC with which I paid for the taxes. (I couldn't remember what I used, but whatever I showed worked).

The following might belong in the KSML thread: I think TK KSML took a turn for the worse. (not to mention the sandwiches from the vending machine at IST airport, which are bland and inedible IMHO)

I was asked to show the cc at check-in counter twice (after getting the warning)

When departing from jfk the give a decent regal meal. The Turkish made you get departing ist or on tlv route is no good

on star alliance partner highly doubtful you will be asked to show cc. best is when you book the ticket you should have said cc belongs to passenger, then they wouldnt have told you that.

Kosher food available at IST! Good luck finding that vending machine at that huge airport.

Besides for being situated as far as possible from the TK Business lounge, this machine was a total disappointment. Took many many tries to manage to get it to dispense. The bread they use for the sandwiches is probably the worst I've ever tasted. Seems like they haven't heard of high gluten flour, and also lacking salt in the recipe. I got a vegetable sandwich and a cheese sandwich. Both were as bland as it gets (they should at least include some salt packs). The cheese sandwich was a huge thick (maybe 1/4 inch) slice of cheese that was totally bland.

IGA lounge was out of KSML both at 2am and at 4pm.

It's a nice try, but fails on execution IMHO. I also think TK KSML aren't as good as they used to be. I would rank it 4 or 5 on the Stogel-Hermolis KSML scale (used to be 9).

Question for the seasoned travelers.

No I class available on the IST MLE I'm looking at late October, beginning of Nov.

What is the likelihood of I class opening up closer to time? Is it just a factor of current pax cancelling their booking or does TK release more closer to time?

I booked a united flight with Turkish Miles.

Can I cancel and get the miles back?
120 characters? Hmm, I wonder what I could write with 64 characters. Boy, it's gonna be hard to use up 15 characters. W-
