Is there a lounge in JFK, IST, and TLV for someone flying J on TK? Does he need any particular cc/membership, or is a J ticket sufficient? Thanks.
Yes.
The latter

Comment on DDMS:
"Anybody (especially Dan) have a comment about the temperature on Turkish Airlines flights? I’ve seen reports here and there that they like to keep the cabin temperature stifling (1st world problems I know) at 75 degrees. That sounds really annoying especially for sleeping."

Is this true?

I have had before pushback that it was sweltering. Once they turned on the engines and the AC went on, was perfectly fine.

I've had similar experiences on quite a few flights/airlines.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I have never had it nearly as bad as with TK, although I have flown TK many times, and this was a one time occurrence.

If anything TK is slightly cooler than is normal. LY is usually quite stifling.

Definitely less than LX/LH/OS.

I guess I should've asked if anyone knows the dollar amount (even ballpark) for one-way. I'm trying to compare using United miles (80k + ~$45) to SQ (57.5k + ?). I just realized ANA doesn't help much because it probably has to be bookable as one way for my situation.

How can I credit miles flown on TK, to a different program (M&M), after the flight? Thanks.

It was around 280 for me about a year and a half ago. As I recall right in the same range as LX/LH

I know here people have had good experience with Turkish. Do people find the layover and having to pass security a big pain? Online people have been complaining very bad about it.

Security is not a big deal.
The layover is the layover. It definitely adds time to the flight, but only you can answer if it's worth it to you. הוי מחשב שכרה כנגד הפסדה

I have connected in several foreign airports, and as far as I can recall most required going through security (even though remaining airside all along). I didn't find IST to be any worse than others in that sense. I don't like the very long walk within the terminal, and poor signs (mostly just gate numbers, except at center of Terminal where signs for lounges, restrooms, mosque etc.).

+1, count on a 15 min. walk - if you walk at a normal pace; a lot longer for someone who has trouble walking. Also, don't count on asking people directions, if you want to talk English.
