If anyone is interested.. I was fighting it out with them to just give me a lounge pass so I'd have something to do on the layover they made for me, but they wouldn't do it. I guess they don't mind giving me back $400 per seat because they can resell it for so much more. Anyway, my wife's family paid for new tickets on United, so I requested the refund from Turkish to give to them.
I'm sure you checked this but just making sure. They have a section on their site with passenger rights. Don't know if your situation qualifies but it's worth looking into:

Thanks!

So being as they never notified me of the change, and had I not been reading this thread I never would have known, I should qualify for 250 Euro per person..

Quote
a compensation of the Turkish Lira equivalent of 250 Euros for all the flights of 1500
kilometers or shorter

I'm not getting my hopes up. I want to first see if they are going to refund the $800 that they promised before I start up with this.

Nothing to get major excited
Just like LY has an agreement with B6 & AA to do feeder flight service in the USA, (they had with DL which was canceled a short while back).
In Canada they have an agreement with WS, and now they added Porter

How do you feel about flying through Istanbul these days for a single frum girl? Esp. through airport SAW and getting there on one ticket and continue to TLV on a different ticket.
SAW airport is a regular modern European airport, I had a stopover there with Pegasus & saw a bunch of chasssidim making a minyan in the middle of the terminal,
nothing to be worried about IMHO

I would consider it more of a political question than a safety question.

What situation? I have been watching this thread for about two months. All I have seen are positive experiences. I understand the initial hesitation by people since "Turkish Airlines" sounds like Jihadis-R-Us to some people but is there a real, rational reason to not fly with them at this point? Also, as i have said before, if you want to make a political statement by not flying with them, fine. But just make sure you will re-book tickets to Israel with another airline that you are politically comfortable with, or else you are just punishing Israel financially by not being a tourist. And you probably aren't punishing Turkish if you've already booked with them and are cancelling non-refundable tickets. In fact, you are making them money since they can now sell your unused seats.

I booked my father and mother on two separate Turkish tickets using united miles.  For some reason my fathers reservation says he gets checked bags for free but my mothers says only one.

i can't figure out why its free.  Is there any reason to be concerned they won't honor it?

Really? I guess the question is then why my mother only got one.

Maybe it is because she is on a round trip ticket flying to the us on air canada while my father is on a one way.
Anyway thanks for the reply!
