United hack for economy plus?
« on: November 12, 2017, 10:26:41 PM »
I was planning a trip to san diego from NYC with united and i wanted to book with united miles but since there was a $80 charge for the booking i went to book 1 month ahead and then called in to get it a month earlier and pay only $5 and some change as Dan explained here a lot of times But while booking the first booking they offered me a bundle to upgrade to economy plus and a free suitcase for $165
and i also choose the seats than when i called in to change i called in around 11pm when the filipinos pick up the call  and she got me moved on the new booking one month earlier but my economy plus seat from the old booking for 12.5k miles and 5.65 fee with no other charge for economy plus i tried doing it with another flight the next day but the agent did not give me a plus seat and when i told him that on the old reservation i had a plus seat he told me that i have to repurchase it. DID YOU EVER HAD THIS?

So did you or didn't you pay 165?

i did pay for upgrade and when i called in to change i asked for the same seat from the old booking and i got it for no additional charge as i was charged in the old booking even more when i tried to change my seat to a different plus seat it asked me to pay $129 as that's the price to upgrade

So you paid the upgrade fee, so what's the hack

So this is no hack. You had a nice agent that waived the fee for you.

If you didn't read it slowly then maybe you should and it would help you.

I'm really confused about what OP did/didn't get.
Either way, it sounds like there was no "hack" here. OP just caught a lucky break. Moving on...

It would help if he wrote proper English.

I gleaned several things:
1) OP paid for the EP seat on the original booking, but that was refunded when he rebooked the date.
2) It may indeed be just a nice/clueless agent and not a reproducible hack.
3) OP needs to use punctuation marks to aid his readership in understanding him. It would be even more helpful if he would add all the relevant facts, even if the post seems to be getting too long.

no disrespect but from OP name, it seems as though grammar and punctuation is not a priority. but credit for trying

That's why there's a question mark by the subject line to ask you if this is a hacked or just I got a lucky agent  :)
