Karan: Hello, my name is Karan. Please give me a moment to review the previous correspondence.
Me: Hello. I would like to know why my emailed receipt shows a price of $7.67 but when I happened to back into my orders I see I was charged 5 times that amount--$35.03. This is downright theft and I am very concerned that with any order I place with Amazon, the price I see in my receipt is not the price I will ultimately be charged. This seems like fraud to me.
How is it not fraud?
Karan: Could you please provide me the image of the receipt, kindly upload it on postimage.org and provide me the link of the upload.
Me: One moment please.
Karan: Thank you.
Me:
https://postimg.org/image/xxxxxxKaran: Could you please give me 2 minutes while I will check this?
Me: Yes, of course. I am so angry and concerned.
Karan: Thanks for your patience while I look into this.
I’m sorry this is taking longer than expected, could you please be on hold for another 2 minutes?
Me: Yes.
Karan: Thank you for waiting, I have researched and I see that the email sent to you from our end on Thursday, November 16, 2017 was an error.I apologize for the inconvenience in this case. As we sent you another email on Monday, November 20, 2017 with the correct information with the order total. The price of the item was $31.99 and with tax the total was $35.03 which is the correct amount charged. As you can check the item price on the manufacture website as well:
https://shop.lego.com/en-US/Heartlake-C...(See full link)
Me: There was a coupon that I clipped that brought the price down. There was no other email.
The email on 11/20 was a shipping email, NOT a price adjustment email.
I see now that the email on 11/20 has a different price, but it was just a shipping email saying it was on the way. I didn't even read it.
If it had said, NOTE THE PRICE OF YOUR ITEM HAS GONE UP BY FIVE TIMES then I might have read it!
Give me a break.
There is no way I can expect an email that says, "your item is on the way" to have a price that is FIVE TIMES what I actually paid!
Amazon should have given me the choice to accept the price.
In fact, there have been times that Amazon has canceled orders because of a price mistake. But this time, amazon shipped AND RAISED THE PRICE WITHOUT MY APPROVAL!
This is absolute fraud.
I actually bought this to donate to charity, but fortunately, I haven't. So I can return it for full credit. But I expect some compensation for this insanity.
At a minimum, I expect a refund of the price difference. There is no excuse for this.
I'm shocked that I am getting any resistance from Amazon on this.
Karan: I can understand, Please check the email sent to you on Monday, November 20, 2017, it states the price and the details, it was when your order was shipped and according to my information it states that the price charged to you was same as the list price. I am sorry I won't be able to provide you that price or any credit for the item.
Me: So you're telling me that AFTER I PLACE AN ORDER, amazon can ship the item and charge me whatever price it wants if the item was on sale with a coupon at the time I ordered? Do you know how insane that sounds?
Would you like me to post this chat all over the Internet where your customers can see what Amazon claims is OK and legal? That you can charge one price online and then after shipping, QUINTUPLE THE PRICE and claim that's ok just because the new price shows up in the "your order has shipped" email? Seriously?
There is ZERO CHANCE that this is legal.
Karan: I can understand and I will forward this as a feedback to the concerned team and we will take care that this doesn't happen again, I'll make sure the appropriate people in our company see your message, as I know they'll want to read about your experience.I am sorry I won't be able to provide you the item for that price, you may return the item for a full refund.
Me: This is a disgrace.
