New Mileage Plus Explorer card
« on: July 12, 2011, 05:53:21 PM »
I just read somewhere that the United Milage Plan Select card will no longer be offered July 19th and will be replaced with a
combined CO/UA Plus explorer card. Those that have the UA Select card will not be affected, but there will be changes to CO card
members:

Those with CO Pres Plus:
2x rewards on CO/UA purchases

Those with CO OnePass Plus:
$95 annual fee (up $10 from $85)
2x rewards on CO/UA purchases
PRIORITY BOARDING

My question is: Is it worth applying for the current 30,000 UA Select offer, go for the bump to 50,000, and then later on go
for the new Plus Explorer since I won't be a prior card holder? Or do you think Chase would still reject me down the road for
the new combined card because I was a prior UA select card holder? (The sign-up bonus on the new card is rumored to be 40,000)
