LAN miles would be great for this. Try Kayak?

Kayak's not working now. I'll try again later

ita if you're flexible on airports and dates.
Or try to buy LAN from an agent or maybe even directly from LAN.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

FareCompare or Vayama?

They seem to be about $500. That's the best I can do?

I don't have exact dates yet but wouldn't be flexible. Can you explain what LAN is? I checked the websites and they said they had no flights available ???

Sign up for a LAN account, get 1000 bonus miles. Then buy 15000 kms at $0.02 each=$300. You will have 16000 kms(enough for RT on AA, assuming you want to fly from NYC area)+$50 taxes and you got a better deal than $500

Thanks for explaining. I'll probably end up doing this.

I don't have patience for a 2 hour drive

BTW the starwood option is even more lucrative. So if you do this trip frequently in the future you should look into getting SPG points, they transfer to LAN 20000:50000, so if you can get hold of 20000 even at 3 cpp, you are still doing pretty good. So look out for SPG deals, they sometimes go on sale (they sell them at spg.com for 3.5 cpp normally) or try to accumulate with SPG amex. Good luck.

You can often buy directly from SPG for 2.8cpp.  That's like paying 1.12 per LAN km.
16K x 1.12=$179+ per NYC-YYZ/YUL RT ticket on AA.

I never really understood this SPG thing and chances are I won't be doing this again in the near future so I'll stick to your other suggestion

Make sure to go to aa.com and check sAAver availability before you make the purchase. Or better, just sign up then do a search (LAN now searches some OW partners, including AA) if the flight is available, it will probably give you the option to buy the needed miles.
