I've shown this to over 20 adults so far, only 3 got that answer.
Frum Jews or others as well?

Only 1 of them, who works in education went with the girl. She knew it immediately.
Btw, if Peg wasnt also a common word or they used a name like  Meg, I think more people would figure it out.

I believe Peg can mean a leg, probably should circle the person jumping on theirs.

Although that's clearly the answer. The reason why I think most people won't assume that is because you would assume they are learning spelling words and proper nouns are never spelling words

Did these adults read a book that day that focused heavily on monosyllabic words, and that had Peg as a primary character?

Maybe they were learning capitalization.

you have a first grader recently?....
interestingly just showed it to my wife and she's like of course it's Peg.... so I guess it's one of those things that will be so obvious to some and completely missed by others

I think it's the middle picture, the hat. You hang a hat on a peg. Simple!
Brevity may be the soul of wit, but floridity is its spirit.

Definitely confusing to the average frum kid (or adult) who likely never met a person with the name Peg. This kind of confusion happens pretty often when doing homework from common school books.

You must be a teacher.
I’m not. I am, however, the parent of a 6 yr old in the first grade. She’s learning the basics of Common Core and I predict that will be a headache in the future.
I’ll say this- right now my daughter is learning English. Specifically- how to build a sentence. I would assume that’s what the homework sheet is about. Nouns...

It could be, I think part of the issue is that we as parents dont know what the lesson in school was that the homework is reviewing leaving us to try and deduce. Its the same issue with the new way they do math. Trust me, I can figure out what 8+4 is, but unless I know what the learning method of using "blocks" or whatever method they used that day, I'm clueless. Luckily my daughter is a good student and knows most of the info, but if she was struggling I'd be unable to help her.
