I dont think there is a *wood or any hotel that will serve you kosher breakfest.
as far as Kosher food there are three restaurants located around the Kazinczy Shul, (the old orthodox shul that is still operating and has daily minyan) one is milchig with very expencive prices the food is nothing special, the second is fleishig named hanna good food and good prices the third is carmel expensive but great food!

As far as what do for the day, Budapest is a old Beautiful city to tour, if you want to take the boys to kivrei Tzadikim the prices for a driver for a day are around $300,
if interested PM me ill give you some contacts

There's a bakery diagonally across from the Kazincy shul. (This might be the milchig restaurant you're referring to.)

I would say (if you don't waste time looking for kosher places to eat), you have maybe 3 places to go to, and around those places, you can walk around.

Mostly in Buda, and a bit in Pest.

Enjoy! Im sure you read my TR so I won't bother repeating myself here. It's a very beautiful and unlike prague it's a very relaxing city to walk around (the old city that is.) Wish I was in europe now. You going to another cities?

Btw the shliach who's office is right behind the front desk on the left is really helpful and nice.

I am treating a sibling of mine to a trip in the summer from Israel and I was thinking of Budapest because of the low fares and cheap hotels. I've never been there myself. Should I stick to something else? Venice? Lake Como? Or is Budapest a nice enough city that we will enjoy? They don't get to travel very often.

We're going for just 3 days/2nights.

Cannot compare Budapest and Venice. Venice is so much more memorable it's not even close.

Ok, ignoring the Venice part. Would you suggest I splurge for somewhere else? Or is Budapest a nice place in itself ?

I imagine you read my TR before. I did a day trip there was very beautiful and nice and serene, but as it's own vacation idk. It's only 2 hours from Vienna so that can make it a full rip if you ad it. Personally I may base myself in Vienna and do a day trip to Budapest.

I'd love to go to Vienna. The issue is time. And the tickets to BUD are cheap. But on the other hand I may rather just save my money for when Vienna or somewhere else works out better.

+1 do that. And when you do it you can cover Budapest in a day. Just MHO of course. Others can chime in.

But if you can rent a car 2 hours drive is really nothing to commute between the 2 cities whichever you fly into.

You can take either a bus or train from Budapest to Vienna, (its only 2 hrs away and pretty cheap if I remember correctly)
That way you can take advantage of the cheap tkts to Budapest and still go to Vienna

I have a conecting flight in a few weeks going thru Budapest.
I'm landing in Budapest at 11:55 pm and flying out at 6:00 am.
Are there any lounges open at night?
Is the airport itself open all night?
Anywhere to sleep for a few hours without paying a lot of money or getting killed in my sleep?
