Has anybody been to Mishkoltz?

We are stopping there on the way from Budapest to Kerestir.

There's the Kazinczy Street Synagogue of Miskolc - iss this operating as an Orthodox shul? It was Neolog before the war but is listed as active now. Anybody have any info?

And as far as the Jewish Cemetery, any rabbinic kevarim here?

My family is from Miskolc. I've been there many times. There is no active shul there for the last 20 years as far as I know. I remember a minyan there in the 90s. But since 2002 for sure, there has not been a regular minyan.

As far as the cemetery, Miskolcer Rav is buried there. No other rabbonim. My great-grandfather is in that cemetery.

Is the old shul worth seeing? Open for tourists? We are passing right by Miskolc but we won't make a stop if you say it's nothing worth seeing.

Going into town and out takes precious time. I would stop in Mad to see that shul quicker

Don't know. Never had any issues when I was there and people go all the time.
I was there at nighttime about 8 years ago, a gang of youngsters with sticks started forming around us, looked like trouble, had to jump into the car and get away.
Perhaps by day is safer.
IME was there ~2 years ago and the Hungarian driver was nervous by day not really slowing down thru the town and hurrying us by the Tzion. Were a lot of degenerative literal gypsies just hanging on the street corners.

Was just there 2 weeks ago for the first time. No issues whatsoever. There is a locked gate with code to protect you.
