I use Waze, and it's great.
Let me know if you have any questions on it.

Also, Google Maps is out there, although I haven't used it for directions.

Thanks for responding. Does Waze work as a GPS. I have Google Maps and it is good for direction not for driving.

In any event I'm assuming you are looking for a standalone (no web access required) GPS app?

Question is, does it use web for the maps? If it does, it wouldn't be any good for visitors with data roaming...

You should not use Ruming
My recommendation to anyone who comes to Israel
Sim Card take two hundred shekels, he gets:
Unlimited data
1000 calls every where
1000 sms every where
( Israel only )
3500 min to Cellcom

When u leave isreal , u just calling cellcom and canceling the plan

If u have iPhone or Android Phone , its much better , u insert the sim card into your phone
Add LINE 2 service on it
http://www.line2.com/download.html
then make all your calls from USA forward to your LINE 2
then u get all the calls in Israel free!!!!!!!!
call america FREE!!!
and using in Israel , u never reach 1000 min ... ( incoming free )
so basically for 70$ u set up! include wifi for your laptop and other devices

Enjoy

I was just using the latest google maps and it has a labs option to precache maps in case of lackof coverage. I did find the navigation tool of Google Maps preety cool.

I want to thank everyone for there help. A friend installed Igo on my android, I also had someone update my Garmin so it has maps for Israel. Both choices seem like they will work well.

What did he update it with?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
