For $2.99/month you get a roaming option that makes calls in Canada 20 cents a min.

That's only for calls to USA, if you want to call Canada, Google Voice might be best option....
It can also be prorated, just let them know when you are going and when you are leaving, you won't need to call back to have it removed

I was referring to calls made while in Canada. With that option all calls will be 20 cents incoming outgoing and even international.
Quote from sprint website
"Traveling to Canada? For only $2.99 per month all calls placed from Canada are only $0.20 per minute! Whether you place a local call in Canada, place a call back to the US, call another country, or receive a call with the Canada Roaming Option you pay only $0.20/minute (without the add-on calls are $0.59/minute)."
But yes if you're looking for long distance from usa to canada gv is still the best option.

They straight up gave you a credit on your bill, or an international data roaming allowance?

Link? I ask because when I called to do it, CSR told me that its only $.20 if calls are to USA (local, for US number) but a call on a sprint phone roaming in Canada to a Canadian number would be more, I didn't question him or anything, I just figured--no big-- I will use my GV number. But good to know this. Thanks.

There is no link because that info is false.  I've been travelling to Canada with Sprint for 3 years now.  There is a $4.99 extra charge a month that will give you calls to canada for 9 cents, otherwise its like 59 cents.

You're probably paying for the sprint worldwide plan; the plan I'm referring to is Canada specific and advertised on the sprint webpage discussing international travel. See the fifth paragraph here  and go here and lookup Canada
