Hair cutting machine?
« on: November 23, 2017, 10:57:06 PM »
I’m looking to spend somewhere between $50-$100 on a hair cutting machine. Anyone see any deals! Any advice on which one to get?

Yes, I'm kidding (that website still looks like it was set up in the early 90's)...thought for a buzz machine haircutter you could spend under $30 and be happy

The extra cost for the Oster 76 is well worth it. It is much more powerful and cuts much faster. There are also refurbs available for under $100

Oster Driftwood Limited Edition Classic 76 Hair Clippers ($114.92)

This is not for giving haircuts. It is an outliner for doing the back.

It is okay and definitely better than the Wahl etc. but doesn't come close to the Classic 76. It is not for no reason that evey single barber uses it.

If one has that much back hair maybe one needs a different device entirely :)

This is for making the square or tapered back and the like. For cutting more hair you would definitely need a different device than the outliner

You don't use any outliner at all?

So just so we understand the difference between a pro unit and a home version; do you use it b/c of it's longevity or will our hair look better somehow when we use it to cut?

I do. I use a whal 8081 outline detailer. Very sharp and smooth.

It is more than longevity. It is more powerful and therefore cuts faster without pulling and cuts more per stroke. There is no comparison at all.

You find that better than the Andis?

The 76 is reliable. Never has issues if you oil it and take care of it. The attachments switch very easily and the motor is relatively quiet. It stays cool even after long use and is easy to clean. All in all good for pros and great for at home. Only thing I would recommend is of using at home, don't spend on the blades and but the plastic attachments. You'll save alot of money there.

The Andis is heavy and can get very hot if using it for a while. It's also a popular and powerful option.

+1
Also changing blades wears down the mechanism since to need to do it with the motor running.
