too many credit cards opened in the last 12 mohths
« on: July 07, 2011, 10:48:28 AM »
I just got denied by Chase for having too many credit cards opened in the last year.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get a reconsideration or an approval?

Will closing any of them help?

Thanks!

Please do some searches, your question has been answered many times before. Here's the sticky on the top of the page (http://www.dansdeals.com/forums/index.php?topic=8028.0), which says:

Reconsideration:
Even if you are rejected you can always ask for reconsideration for approval.  Be proactive by offering to have older cards closed or have credit lines shifted around from older cards to newer cards.

Tthis is what I got with citi:
"Too many recently opened accounts were recorded on your
 credit bureau report".
Any suggestions how to go about?

Next time do an app-o-rama with all issuers on the same day... (so they don't see eachother's inquiries/pulls) With inquires and new accounts, methinks they only look back 3-6 months.

Do you mean to say that they only look back at the inquiries from the last 3-6 months? (not all the inquiries that are on the report from the last 2 years?)

That's my guess. IIRC most rejections for inquiries say 'too many recent inquires' or something to that affect.

(emphasis mine)

That actually makes a lot of sense to me based on my CC experience. Lately I've stopped opening up soo many CC's and i've gotten recent approvals for the few i've applied for DESPITE the fact that on my credit report i have many many inquiries for the past two years
