Lifetime spg gold

I was told by a starwood rep that I will be lifetime gold because of an issue with 1500 goodwill points posting. When I log into my account however it says how many stays needed to remain gold. Is there such a thing as lifetime gold? What should I expect? Is what it says on my account any indication? Thanks.

Unfortunately none. Aren't these companies very into good will like everyone getting targeted offers even if they were not targeted and the like. Is it the type of thing I can keep on calling about? For all I know it may already be lifetime.

Ok so last July we discussed here if it makes sense that I could be lifetime gold with starwood. I checked my account today January 5 and it still says I am gold although I didn't have any reasons other than the possibility of lifetime membership to be gold. Unless of course it takes them a while to update their system which is kind of what I am assuming.

I guess I should do that after March do I can keep this status for a year..
Is that a one time generosity for having a an Amex plat, or can keep requesting this upgrade every year?
