Just curious, where are you staying in Whistler?
Im staying at the Westin.. Ive been there during the Winter season and loved it!
You could take the gondola up Whistler MT (blackcomb has a chair lift up) and there are deffinatly wide gravel walks around, I think you might even able to walk all the way down
Thanks so much- that's exactly what I wanted to know. Is there anything else in the village to do with a 15 month old?

I'm debating between

The Westin - 16K SPG (regular rooms aren't available, maybe call in and get for 12K) + $30 parking + Stay credit.

OR

The first tracks lodge whistler (TA number one rated hotel in whistler)
$159 all in (including parking) using a $50 expedia BRG coupon.

Any opinions?

First tracks lodge was really nice, I would bet nicer than the Westin
is 16k spg + stay credit > $129 plus a nicer room?

If I'm driving from YVR to Banff/Jasper is it worth stopping in Whistler?
i.e. Is there anything to see there that I can't see by Banff/Jasper? or is it all about the activities?

First of all Whistler is not on the way, but I assume you know that. Second, IMO Whistler is about activities and scenery if you're in BC. It is not part of the Canadian Rockies like Banff and Jasper are. I'd skip it and just head straight to AB.

Thanks.

"On the way" is all relative :) , though I probably should've said "detour to" instead of "stop in."

Flying out tomorrow morning to YVR. I'm spending 4 days there. Is it worth it to drive up to Whistler? Oh, here's the catch: wife is 6 months pregs so pretty much any activity( zipline, rafting etc.) is out.
Is just the scenery worth the trip or can I get similar on Grouse?

Leave the night before so you have a full day. Driving back & forth in one day is a tad too much

It can deffinetly be done in a day, I did it. Leave Vancouver at 8-9 am and you have plenty of time. I was in a similar situation (2 little kids) so there wasn't much I could do there. In our situation I found the one day round trip to be perfect.

I want to add definetly don't skip the peak2peak. It's bloody expensive, but worth it IMO. Get the glass bottom cars they are really cool. Oh and if you have the time and the money I would highly recommend a seaplane flight that tours around  Vancouver and the harbor. It's amazing.

Watching planes land in the harbor right now from my hotel room. Looks pretty cool!
