Are u using it in low light?
Did you check the refresh rate?
What is that?
And how do I check it?

First check in the display settings on the computer, then check on the monitor itself using those buttons that nobody ever touched

I use at work a Mac and have very sharp screen like something I haven't seen before.
I realize that I am buying the cheapest laptop and monitor for my home pc, therefore I have bad resolution.

What do I need to look at when buying a laptop/monitor?

What do you think of this?
https://www.staples.com/Acer-S230HL-Bbd-23-Widescreen-Display/product_2537403
vs
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-s2318hn-23-ips-led-fhd-monitor-black/5770927.p?
I'd take the Dell 1) for appearance, a much nicer stand and thin bezels. 2) HDMI input which the Acer lacks. 3) IPS penal which might give you better viewing angles and a nicer screen.

Same model (and downsides) than the first Acer, just a bit cheaper and one inch bigger, still Dell has the aforementioned benefits.
