I am looking for something in the <=$100 range

What ports does your laptop have?
What resolution are the two monitors?

HDMI splitter or USB-HDMI converter, if it's a question if ports. The software part shouldn't be a major issue-it's whether your laptop processor and GPU can handle it which is the real question.

A coworker has this and it works well
StarTech.com USB 3.0 to VGA Adapter with 1 Port USB Hub - 1920x1200 - External Video & Graphics Card - Dual Monitor Display Adapter - Supports Windows (USB32VGAEH) ($65.94)

They probably make HDMI versions too
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

You should be fine with everything suggested above.

You can do one with HDMI and one
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YRD88J8

Or, if you want a dock to plug both into as well as other accesories then the Pluggable series are all best sellers.
Vertical   ETA: Both of these have only one HDMI and one DVI so you would need an adapter.
Horizontal
I have personal experience and I can say that their (email based) customer service is top notch.

All docks that use regular usb ports to connect to computer (including all the options above) work with DisplayLink which converts video output to data. I found that DisplayLink doesn't work for watching video on 4K monitors even if the dock is advertised as a 4K dock or double 4K dock etc.  If you are only using FHD you should be fine.

Thunderbolt 3 docks are different as they have the capability to carry video output to monitors without needing to convert to data.

You can also use one of THESE Hdmi - USB c cables
No docks or adapters necessary.

So it seems that I should upgrade my 23 and 20 inch budget monitors that I spend hours a day looking at.  Not sure a 38 inch wide screen is the way to go, and assuming at the size I  don't need 4k.  NOt sure on the curved if I have two.

So can anyone point me in the right direction?

This Amazon gets good reviews for a good, basic monitor https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088BC5HMM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

But Dell is running a sale, and they all seem similar to me. https://deals.dell.com/en-us/category/monitors

I am not going to be able to check from there but maybe others can. You need to know this before buying monitors because otherwise you are risking that you may not be able to connect them. I imagine it has an HDMI port but may not have 2

I can always convert, no?  I have one monitor converted from pin to USB and one USB.  Not in front of it now but pretty sure at least on hdmi.

If you’re doing 27" I would go with with QHD (2560x1440)
