I'm staying at the Sheraton in TLV and i'm looking to rent a car for 2-3 days. I know there are a few rental companies next to the Hotel.
What company do you recommend going with? I'm looking for a sedan with auto trans. and navigation.
I would appreciate any help as I never rented a car in Israel before.

There is a thread on car rentals in Israel, lots of information to search for and read.

An Avis 'station' is a block away from the hotel.  Take ample pictures of your car prior to renting and you should be fine.

not necessary to take pics, just make sure all the scratches etc are marked on the paper

So if you get an unscrupulous rental agency, you have back-up to challenge a claim.

I like to get a picture with the rental guy in it too.  For a bit of peace of mind it is worth the cost of some space on a memory card, especially when halfway through the trip I find a scratch/dent that I did not mark on the paper.

Indeed, 'tis a trade-off. Each time/effort/cost break-point is different.

Considering phones have cameras and I am walking around a car looking for dents anyway, the time+effort is well below the cost of an extra 1-2 minutes.  Add in the negative and high cost (though low percentage risk) of a bad rental company and the break-point makes sense to me.  But, to each his own
