Hey DDF'ers!!

Just figured I would share this with you all:

I just got off the phone with Sprint Account Services (Dial *2, then follow automated prompts to "Cancel Your Service") and due to some of the severe phone call isues that Sprint has been having recently especially in the NYC area they have decided to "bring back" an old add-on code that allows them to give you unlimited text messaging at $7.50 / month instead of the usual $20.  If you have been having issues with making and receiving calls then you can call them up and tell them that you would like unlimited text messaging because it is more convenient to text when calls are not going through.  You can tell them a friend of yours was offered unlimited for $7.50 and ask if maybe you can get that same deal as a courtesy for the trouble you've been having...

This is great for all you guys on old Sprint plans with either few text messages or are paying lots of money for unlimited.

Dan, Im sure your busy with your new baby, MAZEL TOV! so I dont know if you will even see this, but being that a lot of people who visit DD probably have old grandfathered sprint plans still and this could probably benefit a lot more people if it was put on the main site.

Your thoughts?

Don't grandfathered Sprint plans and SERO plans already have free SMS?

Some do. Before I was on my 'Everything Data 1500 Family Plan', I had free unl. texts one one line, $2.50 unl. on another line, and 500 free texts on the rest of them.

SERO plans may have, but most old F&F and family plans did not come with free texting unless the person was fortunate to get an "add-on".  I myself have had 1000 free SMS for quite a while on 2 of my lines and 500 for $1 on the third but I have recently started using more than than on my line so I felt $7.50 is very reasonable to pay for unlimited.

You got/tweaked your plan in the retention heyday, where you could sweet-talk those reps into almost anything.

IMHO, Sprint went from being the best value in wireless to worse cutthroats than Verizon, but with an inferior network.

Nope, that's just how the plan was back in the day, free data and sms/mms on all add-a-lines.
Later I did get FIMF, 6pm nights, and roaming added for free though.

Interesting you say you had to get roaming added for free, because my plan and all the plans I know had that built in and my plan I got free data, 6pm night, pick2 and pick3, and SMS added on separately.  My plan name is Power Pack Family 1000, which was also a retention plan from back in the day.

The Free and Clear plans back in the early 2000s did not have free roaming.  Free and Clear America only started later on as an add-on.
My plan was not a retention plan, although I did get FIMF from retentions.
