Westin Vacation preferred invitation to Cancun. Scam????
« on: December 06, 2017, 02:23:39 PM »
I just got this in the mail 5 days and 4 night. $299. Royal beach resort with in the Westin Cancun. You also get 5,000 starpoints to your account. Any dan deal guys or dan himself know about these? Is it a good deal? Should I go for it.
TIA

It's a timeshare deal. It's not mandatory to attend but once there they will attempt to convince you to attend usually by offering a couple dollars more I'm credits.

correct, I did this in the past in the Westin Lagunamar (i assume bc that became such a successful timeshare trick they are trying to prop up this older Westin property too). my deal came with a normal Lagunamar junior suite (one large room with kitchen) which i added a 1br connected suite too on points so i brought the whole fam. check out the Cancun master thread for lots of good information including people who have visited your Westin. note this westin is much further down and not walkable (for shabbos) to the excellent Chabad minyan/meals.

It's just weird that they would deny that it's a timeshare

maybe it really isnt and they just want people to fill some rooms :). another possibility is this hotel is still full hotel/no time share but they have reps pushing the Westin Lagunamar timeshares and bring u up for a presentation there for 10k points or whatever.

No time share. I called again the next day. They just want to get your business in the future when picking hotels.

Did you verify that it's really the Westin?

I have gotten this same offer from Westin Cancun, Scottsdale, and others. Never gone but have called them several times to make tentative reservations. As far as I know its 100% legit. Always assumed it was timeshare related (which is not a dealbreaker to me) but didn't actually ever ask.
I'm an optimist; but only because life isn't going to give me any other good choices.
