5% categories for fourth quarter of 2017:
Dept. stores and Walmart

There are three possibilities for how many points are earned. In the following examples, the effective rates are assuming you cash out the points for 1 cent each, but if you can transfer them to Sapphire Preferred or Ink, the effective rate could be much higher.
  • Cardholders without a Chase checking account
1 base point per dollar for all spending. Additional 4 bonus points per dollar for spending up to $1500 in quarterly categories.
Example 1: Spend $1 on a parking meter. Earn 1 point, an effective rate of 1%.
Example 2: Spend $10 to refill a Metrocard in 2016 Q1. Earn 50 points, an effective rate of 5%.
Example 3: Spend $100 to buy a Long Island Rail Road Peak Ten-Trip ticket between zones 1 and 3 in 2016 Q1. Earn 500 points, an effective rate of 5%.
    Example 4: Spend $1500 at 7-Eleven in 2016 Q1. Earn 7500 points, an effective rate of 5%.
  • Cardholders with a Chase checking account in older program
1 base point per dollar plus 10% of the base points plus 10 points per transaction for all spending. Additional 4 bonus points per dollar for spending up to $1500 in quarterly categories.
Example 1: Spend $1 on a parking meter. Earn 11.1 points, an effective rate of 11.1%.
Example 2: Spend $10 to refill a Metrocard in 2016 Q1. Earn 61 points, an effective rate of 6.1%.
Example 3: Spend $100 to buy a Long Island Rail Road Peak Ten-Trip ticket between zones 1 and 3 in 2016 Q1. Earn 520 points, an effective rate of 5.2%.
    Example 4: Spend $1500 at 7-Eleven in 2016 Q1. Earn 7660 points, an effective rate of 5.11%.
  • Cardholders with a Chase checking account in newer program
1 base point per dollar for all spending. Additional 4 bonus points per dollar for spending up to $1500 in quarterly categories. Annual bonus of 10% of the total of base and bonus points (until February 2016).
Example 1: Spend $1 on a parking meter. Earn 1 point on the next statement and .1 points at year's end, an effective rate of 1.1%.
Example 2: Spend $10 to refill a Metrocard in 2016 Q1. Earn 50 points on the next statement and 5 points at year's end, an effective rate of 5.5%.
Example 3: Spend $100 to buy a Long Island Rail Road Peak Ten-Trip ticket between zones 1 and 3 in 2016 Q1. Earn 500 points on the next statement and 50 points at year's end, an effective rate of 5.5%.
Example 4: Spend $1500 at 7-Eleven in 2016 Q1. Earn 7500 points on the next statement and 750 points at year's end, an effective rate of 5.5%.

Chase can cancel a card even if activated due to inactivity (i'm assuming if its not activated, its not being used)

is that just chase? bec ive never heard of amex doing that

is there any chance of reinstating points or getting a better signup bonus?

Is there a freedom world mastercard and how can I get it?

As if I convert the SP mc to visa I might not be able to get back and I need coverage in Israel sometimes.

No. Why would you convert the SP MC to Visa?

There is a freedom wmc though you'll pay forex with it.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Reading that SPMC is disappearing, and I need coverage in Israel, so when I will redy to churn SP card again, and I will need to close MC, and will only get a new SP visa, I'll get freedom card for Israel (forex you can pay cash or other tricks )

Dan, I can't find a direct Link to card do I need to convert an existing card?

I think some elites are going to luck out.

Any basis for this? I didn't get mine yet, but the manager at my local Chase branch did, and he was upset about it.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

I have a general question re the Chase UR.  If this is posted somewhere among the thousands of posts among the various threads, please direct me.

Among my wife and me, we have UR points from two Freedom cards, SP and Ink (doesn't say bold or plus on the card-classic?).  Frankly, the whole transfer among these cards and then again transfer to an airline or hotel account, but not any airline or hotel just certain ones, is confusing.  Is there a UR for Dummies post?  Thanks.

Re the Bold card they came in 3 types . Depends on when you got yours, and something may have changed

Ask specific questions and you will get answers. You can transfer from Freedom to SP or INK
and freely transfer UR points bewtween Ink and SP if the names are identical or a spouse

People have mentioned some problems if spouses names don't match

Re which airlines or hotels to transfer you have to decide which work best for you. Hyatt hotels
At 22 k provide great value because you can get some $800 a night rooms for that , but if there is no
Hyatt where you plan on going they may not work for you

Usually UR to UA give the best value as far as airlines are concerned

There is a lot on info scattered and I suggest you do some reading of the United thread , the Hyatt
thread and start thinking where you want to travel to
