I'm considering gifting my SUA/trading/Selling HOWEVER I would like to give preference to those that will use SNU/ Club award as a second guest (I believe this can only be done in the US and Canada)

???How would this be done? Can someone explain?  How do you book someone as a second guest? (Take payment from them for the stay(or points) then book under your name?) How do you avoid someone just ripping you off or recalling payment after the fact? SERIOUS question???

I don't get the question. Its the buyer that has the risk as maybe you will just walk off with his money and cancel reservation. You have the ball in your court , if no payment received  you can always cancel reservation. Additionally yes most trades on this forum is based on trust and on the basis that if you're not honest you will lose the opportunity to trade again with the many DDF'ers so I wouldn't be too worried. We're not talking about 100,000 dollars here

Beg to differ ; both buyer and seller have risks. And yes I agree trades are done based on mutual trust.

As a seller I take considerable risk for 2nd guest bookings (non transferable items) since I don’t know how the guest will behave and cause issues to my account. For most hotel programs, if the guest is a no-show the property charges BAR against that booking and points get refunded and more often than not BAR can be really high compared to the $$ generated from sale.

There are variety of risks that each party (both seller and buyer) take in these transactions; still we proceed with it with a leap of faith and hope that nobody attempts to con anyone intentionally.

Agreed. My concern is if I use  A snu Upgrade for someone as a "2nd guest" and lets say I don't charge and I just gift it (elite nights towards status) Id still have to pay for the booking on my account with my credit card thus taking payment upfront from said individual to book and they no show which would cause my card to be charged. (or they charge a bunch of junk to the room where my credit card is the one on file)... or worse they (after the fact) charge back their "payment" and now ive effectively paid for their vacation. I mean sure I could just contact the hotel get the name from the booking and verify drivers id and sue them in small claims court but that seems like a lot of stress... Regardless thats my concern. Is there anyway to mitigate that concern? (other than offer local bookings, meet-up for check in and take cash payment in person) Or maybe they transfer points for the reservation and use their own credit card to book for incidental thereby reducing the risk to my card being on file?  Serious questions....  Also losing trading risks wouldn't be that much of a big deal when anyone with logical reasoning skills could just create a new user id... Just stating the obvious..
