I just had it where they let me check-in and gave me the benefits, but somehow took the account holder off the reservation. Ended up working out, by YMMV.

In a case of an upgrade cert used, would they not honor it?

I was booked with a DSU and got the suite. Again, big YMMV.

Is that a suite with a separate bedroom and a sofa bed, or a large, expanded room with more amenities?

I had a separate room with a couch/bed.

yes -- i realized that he was talking about the actual reservation and I was questioning the type of suite.

I've found that Hyatt House has more of those "2 bedroom"/King suites available - even just free as a Diamond, not using a DSU.
However, the fancier Regencies do not have those even for a $600 room. It's up to the type of hotel chain...

You sure they couldn't book a standard award?
C+P is a subset of standard awards.
