I'd assume that anything that is owned outright would be freely transferable.
As EJ pointed out, I didn't infer from my first Rav's psak that nights would be under the same issue. That was a Rav I had several years ago when I was at a different stage of life. Now that I have my current Rav, who is fine with these transactions, I went with his psak on the nights even though the first Rav would likely say no if asked about nights.
Don't think he's saying it's better than miles. Just that he didn't ask that specific shayla and is taking advantage of that, regardless of how halichically dishonest that may be.
