However I dont have Gloablist status and am interesting in finding out whether its possible for me to cancel my booking and transfer my points to someone with Globalist status to book.

Maybe adding the suite award is what causes the issue. They cancelled the original reservation and made the second guest checking in create their own reservation and pay the higher price for the suite. Wouldn't budge without the globalist there to check in.

It can happen on any reservation but rarely does.

I suppose it depends on the property and manager. In this case they wanted the additional money for the suite so they refused the original reservation without the primary there.
