Wow!
I mean the globalist can always make a new GOH res
Did you tell them he wasn’t coming or that he would come later?

I’ve done this many times in US and non US properties including Hawaii as well and the worse that happened is that they didn’t want to give extra globalist benefits until globalist shows up

No that wouldn’t work actually for two reasons. 1. this was a cash stay 2. GoH cannot add their suite awards as they are non-transferrable

Yes come later but they don’t care what you tell them. They said that’s fine but if the Globalist never shows up and checks in with us you’re paying the full price of the suite room and the SNA gets returned to the owner.  They knew what was up.

With the Globalist not there they don’t have to honor any benefits including the suite award.

I would like to book the Park Hyatt New York, for December 1-3.. wedding anniversary. I have up to 60k points, so I don't know if the best deal here is to send those points and pay someone to book the standard night and/or buy the category 1-7 award nights and hope for upgrades? Or buy complimentary suite upgrades too to lock those in? Not sure how this works, so this is a combo proposal + pity request for guidance lol.

I see some options for Cat 1-7 free night awards. It looks like the going rate for those is around $400. I have two free night awards Category 1-4. expiring 12/31/21 and 9/04/22. Would be willing to trade/sell in this deal.

P.S. Alternatively, I heard that it's possible to convert cat 1-4 awards into 15k points/each... though I've so far been unsuccessful convincing a rep to do that. lol.. if anyone happens to have a tip that'd be appreciated.

your best bet is to first see if the standard suite is available (though it is just a junior suite) (you can look on Hyatt.com and it will show as standard suite when you search for points rooms) then you can transfer your points to someone selling a suite upgrade and they can book the suite for you. Going rate is about $100

And no you cannot convert your nights into 15K Hyatt points so stop wasting your time trying to do that

Also if you buy the 1-7 nights a suite upgrade cannot be confirmed in advance

Thank you! I only see a premium suite available for 60k/night. Was hoping snagging a suite would be possible when only booking the standard 30k/night room, but guess that’s not the case?

Okay, so it sounds like what I would like to do is offer someone with Globalist (I'm just a lowly discoverist) to book the 1 King Bed for 30k/night on my behalf, and then get the complimentary suite upgrade to hopefully get something like the 1 Bedroom City View Suite (that goes for 60k/night) ? I have to give Hyatt credit, they've been very good to me on day-of upgrades in the past in low peak seasons, but due to the occasion I'd like to have a little more than just luck backing this experience lol.. and thank you for your help and input.

Sorry my question has nothing to with suite upgrade awards. I'm just asking about a regular GOH stay in a standard room (using Cat 1-4 certificates).

Yes, if a standard suite is not available then applying a suite upgrade award is not possible.  Your only hope is an upgrade at check in, which can be whatever room/suite the property chooses.
