+1. I've done this for my parents with the same last name (couldn't rebook under their name due to category change) at low tier Regency. They threatened to wipe out the benefits if i didn't stop by (I did not, and they did not follow through). I definitely could see him end resorts rejecting this practice.

I tell the people who are staying as 2nd guest under my Hyatt account to tell me if the front desk gives them any trouble over being able to check in or explicitly says they will not honor the Globalist benefits if the primary guest does not stop by. I rely on them doing so before checking in because I can still convert the reservation to a Guest of Honor booking in their name. This is only possible before checking into the room. Note that I do not get elite qualifying nights for Guest of Honor bookings but I will do so if needed. Therefore, I essentially guarantee folks who are staying under my name will receive the benefits one way or another. Feel free to look at my references.

Are you doing this given the points are transfered into your account? Meaning the once per 30 day point combine form ? If so I agree with you that you can last minute change out the booking to be a guest of honor. But if you are limited to once per 30 day transfer that would be tough to manage. Or are you doing gifted stays ? Which then would be a problem to convert to guest of honor unless you plan to dish out your own personal points.
