Came across this idea online and it worked for me.
Go to
https://amazon.com/myk to find your specific device and serial number.
Then click on Help>Need more help>Contact us>Devices and start a chat.
Ask them to remove adds from your kindle.
It may help to mention that you are taking the device overseas so the adds will be irrelevant.
The whole ordeal took under 5 min.
I did this on my E reader, but im guessing it should work on other Kindle devices.
Alternatively you can instantly unsubscribe from the offers via "
Manage Your Content and Devices" but there is a $15 - $20 charge depending on the device.
