Re: CO/UA Now Charging $70 For A 2nd Bag To Israel. (AC and El Al have matched)

Almost every airline in europe allows only one bag in economy. The same goes for business with 2 bags, so dont complain on co, they are prob one of the last to allow 3 bags in business.

A normal person traveling, has plenty of weight with 50 pounds, only us jiden need more. A "goy" travels with 2 jeans and is done, no shabbes clothing...

Whatever this means?! yes we are yiden on this forum (most of us) and we are complaining!

You can complain... I just explained from the airlines view, by allowing 50 pounds they give a "normal" traveler all he needs

These rules don't apply if the tickets were purchased prior to new policies, correct?

I have a question I was hoping someone could help with:
I have silver status, myhusband has none, and we are traveling on CO to israel with a Baby. My ticket was booked with my husband's miles andhis was booked with mine. How many pieces of luggage are we entitled to? I was thinking each of us 2 because he was booked under my silver status and I should get 2 for my status irrespective of being booked with his miles. I have no idea if an infant is entitled to checkin bags? I would like to check in the car seat base.

You would be grandfathered.

Cute, yes you should each get 2 free bags and you can check a baby item free as well.

Talk about who 'wears the miles' in the family :) It's usually the husband who has the elite status...

Random question. Does a club membership give luggage allowance?

Any other ways to buy luggage allowance w/o a credit pull?

*G.
Any way without flying BIS or paying insane amounts to US/UA?

Just exploring options, I have *G anyway.

Pay someone to add you as an AU on their UA club card?
(Will still be YMMV,  but shouldn't cost you much)

Finally nailed it.

US sells a 90 day trial. Silver is $200, Gold $400.

Presuming silver is *S, and Gold is *G (otherwise $600 for plat).

This is worthwhile for someone needing a second suitcase more than once in 90 days (couple on one flight/one pax on two).

People flying more, and it can be a big money saver.

There also should be lounge access if buying Gold and flying int'l.

@Dan, would make a nice post for the main site IMHO.
